Programs & Community Sharing

One of the most cherished offerings of the Hampshire Township Historical Society has long been its special programs — thoughtful, engaging gatherings where Hampshire’s history is told by the people who lived it.

Since Hampshire’s founding in 1876, families, businesses, schools, and civic leaders have shaped the village we call home. Our programs honor that living history by inviting community members to research, remember, and share the stories that matter most to them. HTHS programs generally fall into three connected themes:

Legacy Families
Founded in 1876, Hampshire is shaped by families whose roots stretch back 100 years or more. These Legacy Families — the builders, business owners, civic leaders, farmers, and neighbors — helped form and grow the community we know today. Each year, family members are invited to research and share their own histories — stories passed down around kitchen tables, tucked into photo albums and letters, and carried through generations in memories that continue to connect Hampshire’s past to its present.

Hampshire Highlights
These programs focus on defining moments, traditions, and events in Hampshire’s past — celebrations, challenges, milestones, and everyday life that shaped the character of the village.

Village of Hampshire Stories
From schools and businesses to civic life and neighborhood traditions, these programs explore the stories that connect Hampshire’s people, places, and institutions, offering a fuller picture of how the village has grown and evolved.
